The Marlin 39A is considered by many to be one of the finest lever action .22 rifles ever produced. It’s also widely considered to be one of the most accurate .22 rifles and it’s the best selling lever rimfire in U.S. history. Simply put, the 39A is a fantastic rifle!

The one that we have for sale here on consignment fits right in with all of the accolades cited above. Wearing serial number 19232898, this is likely a 1981 model and it does have the highly desirable JM barrel stamp.

The owner of the rifle purchased it at an estate sale (we should all be so lucky), fired a few rounds through it and it’s been in the safe since then. We don’t know the history of the original owner but this one looks like it’s seen light to normal use . . . as it should. These rifles were made to be enjoyed.

These models will chamber .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle. If you’re using Long Rifle, you can fill the tube magazine with 19 rounds. The 39A is also a takedown model with the takedown screw located on the right side of the receiver. You can accomplish the disassembly without the need for any tools.

It has a ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight. The trigger is gold, the walnut pistol grip stock has a black cap on the grip and a black Marlin buttplate at the rear of the stock. The micro-groove barrel is 24 inches in length.

The rifle has a good bore and good barrel. The action is smooth and the trigger is light and crisp. The wood is in Very Good condition with just signs of honest use. The metal is Good or better with no major defects but signs of use.

We are fans of the 39A rifles and we like this one a lot. It’s classic, accurate and just plain fun. If you like the pure enjoyment of shooting rimfire rifles, it’s hard to imagine having more fun that you will with a Marlin 39A! Vintage, class, American and ready to go.
